Max Gregory Type Face, Initial Research.

The purpose of this project was to design a type face, using the information gained about an individual. Max Gregory was chosen for me. I Described him using 5 adjectives and then apply this to a typeface. The typeface i chose to alter was Helvetica Bold. as i thought his matched his bold northern personality. i also focused greatly on his musicality.

The re done final outcome.

Here is my final outcome, re done. Its done on the computer which allows me to work more effectively in getting a cracked effected onto the letter G. And is much more effective in a sequence.

The original final idea.

here shows some examples my original final sequence, hand rendered. Using the G s the origin of the cracks. The cracks get bigger and make the G more illegible as the sequence continues. I have decided to re do this as the media used is in appropriate, and really doesn't show a glass cracking effect at all.

Alphabet Soup

For this project we were given a word, mine was damage. I then had to find away incorporate damage into a series of one or more than one letter, to produce a set ten letters.

My initial ideas for damage was looking at natural damage, i began looking at weathering, specifically freeze thaw weathering, which after a process of expansion and contraction due to changes in temperature shatters rocks, and i looked at applying this idea into a set of one letter, over a sequence. however this idea did not develop how i expected.

As a result i began to look at different materials that get damaged, an i came  to glass. Taking inspiration from the Autoglass advert, which shows a process of a windscreen crack developing bigger and bigger over time due influences such as bumps in the road or weather. i began research on the idea.
