Project 100-Pictures

here are some the final pieces photographed, i think they have come out well, i like the way the info graphics look off white, background. brings the colours out well. The final poster look good and the matt paper gives the final results depth, which improves the outcomes.

Photoshop work shop.

During our colour theory sessions we were asked to take photos with and allocated colour in mind, my colour was orange, we were then asked to develop these photos, keep the colour in mind and create postcards.  In the workshop we were focusing on non harmful ways to edit photos, and this is what we had to demonstrate in our 10 final outcomes.

For my ten final outcomes i wanted to keep visual consistency through out, looking at creating a colour wheel effect. And hat colours were complimentary to orange.

the process i used during the process is shown below.

as you can see i created adjustment layers, and then continued to alter brightness and contrats through out my final post cards.

Altering the brightness and contrast to get desired effect.

Variations can be see in the brightness/contrast between the two rows.

The Final Postcards(front)

Here you can see the final product of the photoshop workshop, i wanted to keep a consistent colour rule through out by looking at a progression from yellow to dark orange, i think it gives an effective result. i also looked at what colours compliment the warm oranges. my favourite are the bottom to, as i think they demonstrate this well and are visually appealing.

Project 100-final posters

here are the final, three outcomes for my brand construction informative posters, the end product i think is what i was trying to achieve, however if i had not of run out of time, there would have been at set of ten, i also would have thought about making the exploded diagram more 3dimensional.

i think the end result are strong and effective in the message they are delivery. however there is always the need for more.

Project 100-First final poster

Here is the first complete mock up of the final piece.

Here you can see the way in which i have layout the exploded digram, i wanted to create a sense of depth so the aspects of the packet are large than the packaging itself.  you can also see the pan tones added that are included in the packaging. i think it creates a a strong image, and from this point there is little i need to change.

here iam experimenting with the colour, used through out all my info graphics final pieces so far, i am not sure if it improves the final out come or not.

Project 100-Design Process

Here is the design process i used to get the parts of the exploded diagram for the posters. Again from the library of photos i took earlier at the start of the project, i began vectoring the aspects of the wrapper that had relevance. i would be looking at:

  • type
  • image
  • colour
and then how these categories effect the band image on each individual wrapper.

The vectors needed to be precise, as a result it was a time consuming process, to get and effective image. They also were done in stages so they need to be precise so the could be joined together to create the complete image.

This shows the complete vectors of the Ferrero Roche packaging. It is this that will be see in the bottom left of the final piece.

Project 100-Instructional poster layout development

This is progressing the layout design further, and adding the titles and basic layout on to the page, i want to see the how it effects the the design as a whole, before i progress further.

by adding the headers and analysing the layouts, it apparent to me that the best one is the top, it uses the space better, and allows more subsections, (colour) that the bottom one does not have. The typography through out will be clear and concise, using helvetica, like i have done through out the project. The logo looks effective in the left top corner.

Experimenting with different colours, and looking through the scales, of the colours, altho i am sure that the grey scale is the right thing to do however you never no....

I believe the most effect colour usage is the red scale, i like the way the red bring out the white type,  and increases legibility, perhaps i will take this further. The dark blue however, would be the most consistent through out the poster, as it portrays the message of formality that i am trying to achieve.

Project 100-Instructional poster layout

these are examples of the layouts i will be experimenting with for my posters.

This is the first basic layout, designed, i like the way the grey scale works, i think when i add in the text and image will look effective, however i think the text box below the titles at the top is to big.

The last two layouts, i think are more spatially aware and will allow me to attempt better as i go on, so i will begin designing the poster on these.

Project 100-Instructional poster

Another potential final idea, is for me to create a set of instructional posters, again aimed at people who have an understand or are in the branding business. Keeping the same name and project title of brand construction. looking at exploded diagrams, that give instruction on how to put together the packaging of chocolate, and information on the brand itself and what it try's to achieve and how that is represented in the packaging, i think it is a much more straight forward way of portraying what i was trying to with the book.

looking at the layout, i want to achieve something that has a strong resemblance to instructions. That ou would get with an ikea flat pack. defiantly keeping strongly to a grey scale colour scheme?

These two layouts above are the two i have decided to focus on developing for my informative posters.

Project 100-Logo-Brand Construction

For the logo for 'brand construction' i want something that suggests construction itself, but at the same time something simple.

From looking at this to me it is obvious thats the strongest is the one on the right, that has been repeated, it demonstrates something easily legible, but still has an aspect of movement and construction with in it.
The others on the page are a little to corporate business, and are dull.

experimenting with vibrant colours, does not really give the effect i am looking for, i want something neutral.

From the above i think the two bottom ones have potential, i think i will continue to have a black and white theme through out, also the forth from the left i like a lot, it will just ben a question of experimenting when it comes down to using the logo.

Book Binding workshop.

During our book binding workshop we were taught to make several different types of book, which could be good in the development of my project 100 design construction book.

here are the photos from the workshop-

Project 100-Creating the book.

here iam beging to look at page layout, and how the constructed images will process through out the book, as you flick through. also need to think about the information that would be included.

As explained on a previous design sheet, the book will be in an a5 format, as you flick through the pages you will see the progression in the construction of the packet. With the subsection describing the process.  for the subsections i have decided to potentially use:

  • Colour (how it effects brand image)
  • Typeface(what the type suggest about the brand)
  • Image(what the image says)
  • Pan tones.
There needs to be visual constancy through out, i think not using colour(on the image) makes the image look stronger and more like an instruction manual.
